Attending VMworld – Proven to be a Valuable Experience

About a year and a half ago, I was talking with a buddy of mine, Marcus, who was thinking of getting into virtualization.  In the many times a year that we work together, we always have conversations about technology.

In the past few years more of our conversations revolve around leveraging VMware. We pretty much talk about everything VMware from the technical perspective, the VMTN Community perspective, and even VMworld.  Having been to VMworld several times, I’ve shared quite a few things I learned, things I did, and my experiences.

Roughly a year ago, Marcus had mentioned that he had ordered some equipment, purchased a VMware package, and was in the process of getting things up and running.  He had a few questions for me regarding setting up his new environment, we discussed some of them high level, but didn’t really have the time to go deep into best practices/reference architectures/etc.

He asked me if I thought he should ask his boss to go to VMworld.  As someone who has been several times, and know the value, I immediately told him “Absolutely!”

I’ve spoken to this a couple times on my blog, but in this case, I’m going to refer to Marcus for that.  Marcus has a very good perspective from a “new to virtualization” & SMB guy’s point of view.

In reading his post, you’ll find that it far surpasses what one might expect. Check out his post on his experience here: VMworld – The Most Valuable Experience of My IT Career.

Glad you are getting to go again Marcus, here’s to more learning, networking, & good times! I look forward to seeing you there.
