Well, it apparently works on an old IBM e-series x440. |
This is an x440 with 4 1.4GHz procs and 16GB of RAM.
All 4 processors are available. |
I’ll see if I can get the controller information, and pass it along to the forums. |
Updated: When Hyperthreading is turned on, the box craps out. So, no go for Hyperthreading.
And the SCSI controller is listed as follows: Adpatec AIC-7899, IBM ServerRAID Bios 6.10.24
This is the same box that we installed ESX 3.5 on in this earlier post: http://www.jasemccarty.com/blog/?p=103
That being said, it looks like ESX and ESXi 3.5 can run on an IBM x440.
It even runs on a x225 (8647)
I tryed on a x225 (8647) but it freeze during the installation in the phase “Starting VMware ESX Server 3i:” 🙁
Anyone can help?
